Studying at the Environmental Policy Group (1)

Jasmine Osorio has a Bachelor in Environmental Law and Politics from the United States, her home country. In 2003, She started in Wageningen her MSc Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Environmental Policy.

“I did almost all my courses at the Environmental Policy Group. The people here are excellent. When you’re going hrough the various courses you meet the different teachers who all add their own perspective to the same main line.
I’m now doing my thesis research on citizen participation in urban development plans. I’ve been making a comparison between an urban development plan in the Netherlands and a plan in the United States; seeing how people are involved, and what sort of systems and frameworks are designed. I just got back from Virginia where I did part of my fieldwork.”
On completion of her studies Jasmine would like to stay in The Netherlands, but work with an international perspective.
“I am thinking about applying the skills that I’m learning in developing countries. I really feel like the information and knowledge I’ve been gaining with my thesis, backed by my courses, are things I can apply over there.”
