Specialization Sociology of Rural Development in International Development Studies
The governance of food chains requires an understanding of food production and consumption practices, international trade and regulation and the management of food chains. The specialization Sociology of Rural Development uses anthropological and sociological based theories and methodologies to analyse how people react to changes in food production, trading and labelling, technological developments, environmental challenges, and policy changes. The MSc International Development Studies in which this specialization is done deals with worldwide processes of development and change, while approaching the study of social, economic, political, technological and environmental change from various perspectives, local as well as global.
