Climate Governance 2 Print

Major Environmental Policy in Environmental Sciences

Climate governance encompasses international trade and regulation and the management of production, consumption and natural resources. The Major Environmental Policy can offer the academic skills in analyzing and evaluating Climate Change policy and governance. The program will give students the theoretical and empirical tools to analyze, evaluate and (help) design processes of environmental reform from the local up to the global level.

The Master Environmental Sciences in which this major can be done provides insight into the socio-economic causes, the nature, and the consequences of pollution and degradation of the natural environment. It intends to generate technology as well as socio-political and economic instruments to control and prevent environmental problems in an interdisciplinary way.

Specialization Sociology of Rural Development in International Development Studies

Climate Governance can be studied from an anthropological and sociological perspective within the specialisation Sociology of Rural Development.  Within this specialisation students learn to analyse how people react to changes in the natural environment, technological developments, environmental challenges, and policy changes.
